So last week Brett and I spent five days in Carmignano in the Tuscan hills. We stayed at Tenuta Di Capezzana, one of the oldest wine estates in Tuscany with the most amazing views over the surrounding hills and towns. We booked through Voyage Prive and it's the first time that i've used them, however the service wasn't amazing and on hindsight feel I wouldn't use them again just to be totally honest. Capezzana was really lovely though, it was so picturesque and ideal for a few days chill out and some wine tasting. We flew into Pisa airport and hired a car to drive up to Carmignano which took around an hour, so not too bad at all. I would say that car hire is essential for this kind of holiday as Capezzana is literally in the middle of nowhere and there isn't much on site so you'll need to venture out to eat etc. We had breakfast included however the restaurant was only open Wednesday to Sunday and they don't have a bar or any self catering in the rooms, so driving out for lunch and dinner is essential. There are a few small towns nearby and we ate in a place called Seano a couple of times. Capazzana is not too far from the cities of Lucca and Prato so we drove into Prato to explore one day which was really lovely! We got the most amazing Biscotti biscuits from a place called Mattei that was recommended by one of my lovely followers too!
The restaurant at Capezzana was amazing and we ate some really delicious food whilst taking in the most amazing view of the valley. We also drank some amazing wine whilst there and did a wine tour that they offer on site, finding out all about the history of the wine estate and production which was so fascinating, before tasting some at the end. We laid by the pool, we laughed, we snapped and had a proper chill out time in the sun while I read 'Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine' which I loved!
I would love to visit Tusancy again in the future and whilst I loved Capezzana, it would be great to check out some other wineries in the area and stay somewhere with a little more in the way of self catering too.
