This weekend Brett and I went on a wonderful staycation with Canopy & Stars to Dimpsey Yonder in Somerset, as I'm sure you guys saw over on my Instagram! It was just SO lovely and I wanted to share all the details as I had quite a few messages whilst I was there, so thought it handy to have everything in one place over here for you!
Canopy & Stars is such an amazing platform who select the most inspiring places to stay in the great outdoors, listing them all in one place that is super easy to navigate. I have a list as long as both of my legs put together (very long indeed) of amazing places I want to go that I have spotted on their site, but for this trip we picked Dimpsey in Somerset as it looked like everything we wanted and more - a hot tub, copper bath, wood fired oven, the cutest tree swing and it's not too far from London. It's glamping but to be honest the glam-est camping I've ever done. I mean, on the first night I sat in the copper bath with a glass of champers, so faaaancy!
The beautiful shepherds hut is based in Chard, Somerset and took us about 3 hours to drive there in the car from East London. We arrived Friday afternoon/ eve and checked out Sunday lunch time, giving us ample relaxation/ exploration time. We did a bit of a shop before and took snacks and beverages with us - there's a fridge and kitchen in the hut so everything you need to self-cater. There is also a fair few places nearby to eat and drink at though if you'd rather that. We did a bit of both and cooked pizza's in the wood fired oven on the first night, then headed to The Candlelight Inn pub on the Saturday afternoon for drinks and food. It's about a 20 minute walk from Dimpsey so super handy!
The wood fired hot tub is amazing, and although takes a while to heat up, is such a delight to chill in once heated! There is also a fire pit to perfectly toast marshmallows and chill round with a few drinks in the evenings. There is heating inside the hut so it's super warm if the weather is a little chilly, and there is also a shower as well as the beautiful copper bath. The owners Emma and Andrew really have thought of everything with Dimpsey - the decor and attention to detail is perfect and you have everything you could possibly need. They even left us some fresh milk, eggs and bacon from their farm, as well as some biscuits and a lovely welcome note too! I particularly loved the skylight above the bed for watching the stars before falling asleep - the sky was so clear when we were there and it was magical!
I couldn't recommend Dimpsey Yonder enough and you can click here to find out any finer details and book your trip :) Do give me a shout if you have any more questions though!
What a dream first weekend out of lockdown, eh! Thank you SO much Canopy & Stars and Dimpsey for having us, we already can't wait to come back!
